Review

If Janie Fitzhugh could have learned one thing the easy way, she would have learned never to make drunken promises.  Now, Janine finds herself back at Abe Lawson’s ranch, paying off her debt by keeping her promise, which wouldn’t be so bad if Abe wasn’t her ex-husband!  Worst of all, she can’t seem to get him out of her mind.

Abe Lawson has made some mistakes in the past that he regrets.  Now, a matured and changed man, Abe would like nothing more than to have his ex-wife Janie back in his bed.  Turns out Abe isn’t the only one who’s changed and sparks fly both ways.

Renner Jackson hopes to obtain his dream ranch, even if it means partnering with the spoiled Tierney Pratt.  Tierney is sure she can handle Renner easily, though he aims to prove her wrong.  Soon they find themselves hopelessly entangled and loving it.

Wow this book was sexy.  It made me want my own drop dead gorgeous bad boy, cowboy, all for my very own!  That’s pretty good for a girl who doesn’t enjoy anything ranch, cow or horse related.  James takes the ranch life and makes it sexy to the reader.  At least, as sexy as it can be.  Who wouldn’t want to be taken in the corral at a stock containment facility?  It doesn’t sound sexy in theory but James certainly makes it hot!

The story alternates between Janine and Abe’s story and Renner and Tierney.  I loved both and found myself equally excited and disappointed when the stories alternated.  When I was reading about one set of characters, I anticipated the continuation of the other couples story.  However, when the time came to switch over, I was disappointed to leave the story I was on. 

This book was a great read over all.  It was sexy, engaging, humorous and naughty.  I loved each of the characters.  They are well developed and each brought something different to the story.  The chemistry between them was great.  I would recommend this novel, though if you must read series in order, you’ll have to read book one and two first!  Otherwise, this novel stands alone and is quite the treat.
