The Earl of Dunraven’s priceless heirloom is missing and he'll do just about anything to recover it. While prowling London ballrooms for the culprit, his interest is sparked by the striking Lady Millicent Blair, a newcomer to London who spends a great deal of time lurking in ballroom corners, writing secretive notes on her dance card.

Millicent’s secret dream is to have a London season but she never imagines she'll have to uncover ton gossip in order to fund it. Her task is made more difficult by the sudden attentions of the rakish Earl of Dunraven, who seems determined to dog her every step and unearth her secrets. Yet, some secrets are best left alone, even if love is the price of revealing them.

A Dash of Scandal keeps the reader on edge, waiting for disaster to strike with the turn of every page. I enjoyed “being in the know” on Millicent’s secrets and loved how she schemed to avoid Dunraven’s attentions. Grey creates believable interactions and secret meetings which keep the story flowing.

Of course, I did have a few issues.  First, the plot closely resembles the storyline in Grey’s July release, A Gentleman Never Tells.  A Dash of Scandal, which is a rerelease, might cause readers to conclude her storylines are too similar. Also, Grey missed the opportunity to have her heroine take advantage of her aunt’s knowledge of the ton in general and Dunraven in particular.

Overall, fans of Grey will not be disappointed, especially if you like a heroine who gives the hero a run for his money on the way to their happily ever after.
