Camille Solomon is an alien shape shifter whose only purpose is to win money to keep up with treatments for her dying father. The truth is that her father has a rare shape shifter disease that can only be cured by the blood of Cam and her brother. The problem is that once they landed on Earth, Cam and her brother had a falling out and he is nowhere to be found. Cam’s time is rapidly running out and watching her father die feels unbearable.
                                           
Cam and her father are caught by a XCEL (a secret government agency that is responsible for taking down shifters) agent, Griffin Mercer, who is holding her hostage in exchange for help taking down other shifters. Cam is opposed to the idea of turning on her fellow shifters but what choice does she really have? Not to mention, she is strongly attracted to Agent Mercer, a man who hates shifters because he lost his family and reputation to one.

Mercer hates the idea of teaming up with a shifter but his agency is depending on him to deliver. His whole career is on the line with this mission and he refuses to fail because of one shifter even if she gets to him. He bargains with Cam and agrees to help find her brother as they track down shifter locations.

As Cam and Griffin fight off danger in the streets, they can’t keep their hands off of one another. Griffin learns that there is more to Cam than he had expected. He finds himself in a hard position of protecting her against his own agency.

I love the battle between Griffin and Cam. Griffin realizes that he needs to let go of his own preconceived notions of shifters and despite his misgivings he does everything in his power to protect her. The story of opposites attracting is truly attractive and well written. 

The action scenes are skillfully executed. Cam and Griffin are a deadly perfect team. This is a fantastic and creative spin on a fun and action filled paranormal series. This is such an exciting and refreshing paranormal series. I didn’t read the first book but the author explains enough that readers will not be lost if they don’t pick up the first book. I will be reading further books by the author.
